Nugget – Submission depends on Trust

My Level of ‘Trust’ Sets My Level of Submission
Usually, Christians are commanded to “turn the other cheek”, but in especially this one issue, “faith”, Christians are commanded to Fight!! .. 1 Tim 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith“.

God places great premium on faith; like love, an entire chapter is given to highlight its importance – read Hebrews 11. Incidentally “faith … worketh by love” Gal 5:6.

In this ‘nugget’ I want us to focus on the “trust” aspect of faith; this is not unscriptural as the Greek word “pistis” (ref Strong’s 4102. pi´stis;), also embodies trust and faithfulness. So for this case, the verse would read “Fight the good fight of trust,“.

Hebrews 10:39 to 11:2 says:
“[10:39] However, we are not the kind who shrink back and are
destroyed; on the contrary, we keep trusting and thus preserve our lives!

[11:1] Trusting* is being confident of what we hope for,
convinced about things we do not see.
[2] It was for this that
Scripture attested the merit of the people of old
.” (CJB)

I have quoted the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB); it too uses “trusting” here where most other translations use “faith”.

My experience has been that believing that God “can do” is usually easier than believing (trusting) that God “will do”, so I have to daily “Fight the good fight of trust“.

You see God places a premium on trust (faith) because –
by myself I can do nothing!! (Jn 15, esp v 4-5)*. This means I must focus my efforts on submission – I must daily submit to the Holy Spirit, but my level trust determines my level submission. And we know that my level of submission determines the quality of my walk with God – that translates to the quality of our Christian life.

[Heb 11:6] And without trusting, it is impossible to be well pleasing to God,
because whoever approaches him must trust that he does exist and that
he becomes a Rewarder to those who seek him out
. (CJB)

Therefore I must absolutely unconditionally TRUST God!
